The Red Gate Group is seeking a Mid-Level DevSecOps Platform Engineer to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in Reston, VA. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and secure container platforms that power mission-critical systems. You’ll work in a collaborative environment, leveraging cloud-native technologies and DevSecOps best practices to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions that directly support national security objectives.
As part of our team, you’ll not only manage Kubernetes clusters and cloud deployments—you’ll also ensure security is baked into every stage of the pipeline, helping to deliver systems that are both innovative and trusted.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications in Kubernetes environments.
Automate and optimize platform operations through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Configuration as Code (Ansible).
Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters in production to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
Integrate DevSecOps practices across CI/CD pipelines to enable secure and continuous delivery.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop enterprise cloud-native solutions that meet complex mission needs.
Support and improve cloud deployments in AWS or other cloud providers.
Implement and enforce security measures across container platforms to protect sensitive data and applications.
Qualifications
4+ years in an Infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineer role.
2+ years automating, monitoring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production.
2+ years deploying applications into Kubernetes environments.
1+ years working with a cloud provider (AWS preferred).
Experience developing enterprise cloud-native solutions within collaborative teams.
Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies.
Strong background in Linux systems.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and/or Configuration as Code (Ansible).
Active TS/SCI clearance.
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in DevOps, or 5+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+ or CISSP).
Desired Qualifications
Experience implementing and managing monitoring/logging solutions with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
Familiarity with container vulnerability scanning and remediation.
Knowledge of container security concepts and best practices.
