The Locksmith will oversee and administer the duty requirements in accordance with contract, PBNDS, ACA, OSHA and all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. The position will report to the Assistant Facility Director or designee.

Schedule: Monday through Friday (8) hour workdays. May be required to occasionally work greater than 40 hours per week, weekends and holidays or adjust schedule to meet job requirements. May be called in for on-site key, lock, or Key Watcher emergencies during off hours.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an adequate preventive maintenance program and schedule for servicing keys, locks, locking mechanisms and the Key Watcher.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled physical inspections of security locks, keys, and the Key Watcher. Performs routine maintenance and/or minor repairs as needed.
  • Manage materials, parts, and equipment, including inventory tracking, record keeping, and supply procurement.
  • Maintains an accurate key inventory, records / logs of key assignments and locks for buildings.
  • Responsible for changing all safe combinations at least every 12 months or as necessary. Maintains a record of safe combination changes for compliance purpose.

  • Responsible for identifying and investigating compromised locks or locking mechanism Must submit a written report to ICE and PMO prior to end of shift.
  • Replacement of worn or damaged keys and proper disposal of unserviceable key
  • Conducts scheduled and unscheduled tests on emergency exit doors to ensure locking mechanisms and associated safety devices are in good working order.
  • Test the keys to all emergency exits as schedu Test the keys needed for emergencies as scheduled and documents the results.
  • Lubricate locks as scheduled, per manufactures instructions or as need.
  • Identifies technical problems or malfunctions in electronic/automated and manually operated security locking system Coordinates repairs and maintenance with the Key Watcher vendor. Maintains an accurate record of issues, PM activity and repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned by PM.

Qualifications

  • US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years.
  • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record).
  • Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
  • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Must exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain poise and self-control during situations that involve mental stress, such as fires, explosions, disturbances and building evacuations.
  • Always maintain a professional personal appearance and calm demeanor.
  • Maintain physical fitness for position requirement.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain current/physical residence in the continental United States.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working as a Locksmith or have three years of directly related detention experience and completed a certified and accredited Locksmith training program. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in Detention or a related security field or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or higher education.

Physical Demands:
  • The position is required to work most hours in an indoor/outdoor detention facility environment, standing and walking most of the time, while maintaining a degree of physical fitness to manage lifting 25 to 50 pounds, climbing stairs, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and sight correctable to 20/20.
