Job Description: The Junior Facility Services Engineer supports the Spaceport Systems team at Vandenberg SFB by operating and maintaining the Integrated Processing Facility (IPF) for processing space hardware in preparation for launch. The Junior Facilities Services Engineer performs clean room activities, and supports preventative maintenance, repairs and installs for critical IPF systems.

Job Description: The Junior Facility Services Engineer supports the Spaceport Systems team at Vandenberg SFB by operating and maintaining the Integrated Processing Facility (IPF) for processing space hardware in preparation for launch. The Junior Facilities Services Engineer performs clean room activities, and supports preventative maintenance, repairs and installs for critical IPF systems.
This position is required to:
- Responsible for Clean Room activities such as performing routine and deep cleaning of the clean room and pass-throughs, including floors, ceilings, walls, and work surfaces. Proper handling and disposal of waste materials to prevent contamination. Supporting periodic changes and maintenance of specialized filters (like HEPA and ULPA) to ensure the room's air quality is maintained.
- Supports operations, maintenance (preventative and emergency) repairs, and maintenance engineering that encompasses the critical facilities systems utilized during spacecraft processing as required.
- Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements
- Handle materials, including operating a fork truck, and participate in critical spare part control as needed.
- Occasionally participate in on-call rotation and work extended hours when required
- Follow Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field and 1+ years of experience in clean room or mechanical maintenance, or H.S. diploma and 3+ years of experience in clean room functions or mechanical maintenance and repair
- Read, understand, and work from Standard Operating Procedures, electrical drawings, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Experience working around space vehicle flight hardware, and clean room operations and protocols
- Ability to work independently within a cross-functional team
- Capable of walking and moving around job site
- Active SCI clearance
