(AFSS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. AFSS is seeking a Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability 2 (DARC2) program.
Key Role:
- Design and implement signal and data processing algorithms for object detection, discrimination, and tracking.
- Create and refine simulations of the radar system using tools like MATLAB, C++, and Python to test concepts and techniques.
- Support the definition of radar system architectures and the development of operational concepts.
- Decompose system-level requirements into specific hardware and software specifications.
- Support the integration of radar hardware and software and participate in testing activities both in the lab and at operational sites.
- Analyze radar test data and performance statistics to verify system performance.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other technical documentation to communicate analysis findings to stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams, including other engineers, program management, and government customers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of systems engineering experience; or three (3) years' experience with a Master's degree; or one (0) years with PhD.
- Interim DoD Secret clearance.
- Strong understanding of ground-based phased-array radar principles, including waveform design, signal processing, and electronic protection techniques.
- Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS, Jira, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Technical writing skills for generating analysis and reports
- Familiarity with the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) program or the design, development, integration, or testing of similar phased-array ground-based radar systems.
- Familiarity or experience with Agile software development methodologies, i.e. Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
