ASE, an Akima company, is looking to hire a Sr. Interior Communication Engineer to support US Navy shipboard interior communication systems. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!

This is a 100% remote position but may require occasional travel for meetings in Suffolk, VA office.

Responsibilities

  • Write analysis reports on communication systems for all US Navy surface ship platforms.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for new construction and in-service fleet aging communication systems.
  • Develop strategies for cybersecurity for Navy ship interior communication systems.
  • Create briefs and risk assessments to prepare senior leaders for upcoming decision points.
  • Collaborate with ship Program Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Field Engineers and industry partners in solving highly technical problems and best value systems to meet ships operational requirements and needs.
  • Provide technical oversight for IC shipboard systems to include telephone, sound-powered telephone announcing systems, wireless communication systems, video and air traffic control systems.
  • Use engineering knowledge and methods to design, support, and repair technological tools and shipboard interior communication systems.
  • Use advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work.
  • Analyze user needs; build, modify, install, and tests products.
  • Troubleshoot errors or malfunctions.
  • Create, distribute, and maintain shipboard cybersecurity documents, technical manuals and operational requirement documents.
  • Interact and work with senior management.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must have active DoD Secret clearance.
  • BS degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with no less than 15 years of Navy shipboard experience.
  • Must understand US Navy ship requirements in cybersecurity and architectures of communications.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical analysis, requirements and shipboard networks for interior communication designs.
  • Ability to manage technical requirements for interior communications shipboard operational testing.
  • Must be able to advice on risks, corrective actions and cybersecurity for shipboard communication networks.
  • Must be able to perform duties independently.
