ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Security Alarm Room Operator for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Shemya Island in Alaska.

This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 6 weeks 7 days a week 12hr shifts on-site at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), located in Sheyma, AK and 6 weeks off site unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria.

Transportation to Eareckson Air Station (EAS), from Anchorage, AK is provided by government sponsored aircraft. If you live outside of Anchorage, you are responsible for your own transportation to get to Anchorage, AK.
Position Description:

The Alarm Monitor operates and monitors communication equipment to include multiple landline, radio frequencies, and encrypted secure communications. Also assists in coordinating appropriate responses to Incidents and obtains additional Information and briefs to appropriate personnel on any pertinent information received.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Monitors Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and static camera in alarmed facilities, providing Immediate Visual Assessment (IVA) and determining cause of alarms.
  • Announce alarms for Site Control Monitoring Station (SCMS), SIient Knight and Fireworks Alarm Systems.
  • Monitor equipment that control critical mechanical components and related equipment for Protection Level l resources and make the appropriate notification in circumstances involving catastrophic or partial system failure.
  • Maintains a detailed 24-hour dally events log and other documents ensuring accurate and thorough entries.
  • Ensures the safety of persons, premises, and/or property by observing and reporting unlawful, unauthorized, or suspicious activity. Perform base locator duties as necessary. (Example: emergency, work-related)
  • Operates security vehicle, may detain personnel who commit serious crimes or are a danger to themselves or others until civil authorities can affect an arrest. In addition to the phones, Central Security Control will monitor the following radio channel
  • Communications Net Fire Net
  • Security Net Snow Net
  • Marine Channel 16, when required UHF & VHF Air to Ground (CTAF}
  • Interprets and complies with legal and procedural requirements.
  • Collects and safeguards evidence; preserves crime and accident scenes; protects the rights of those involved as directed by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI).
  • Makes safety, road closure and other key radio announcements in the absence of airfield personnel. Assumes the following Airfield duties when the tower is not manned.
  • Monitors CTAF frequencies and recalls airfield personnel for emergency divert aircraft
  • Controls access to the Controlled Movement Area (CMA) and logs vehicles, equipment and pedestrians on and off the runway as needed. Receives severe weather Information from 17 OWS and disseminates IAW notification matrix
  • Notify any NOTAM, Prior Permission Required (PPR) or Airfield Issues to Airfield Management. Process after-hour work orders

  • Security practices and techniques.
  • Regulations and laws applicable to this position.
  • Meeting deadlines and handle potentially highly-stressful situations. Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to qualify with a 9mm handgun.
Work Conditions:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work Is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels. Tasks may be performed on uneven, Inclined, hard and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surface.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience as an Alarm Monitor, Dispatcher, or Desk Sergeant. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook at an Intermediate level.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have a current secret clearance and ability to maintain a secret clearance.
  • Obtain a State of Alaska Guard License.
  • Must become Public Safety Tele communicator 1/11 certified within one (1) year Must possess current CPR, First Aid, AED
  • National Incident Management System {NIMS) 100, 200, 700 & 800 Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical, fingerprints, and drug test.
Preferred
  • Experience with emergency dispatch or multi-channel radio base station operation.
  • Prior military or civilian security experience.
