Koniag Data Solutions (KDS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior System Architect to analyze data models and support all aspects of the operational, technical, and informational architectures needed for our government customer's systems. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

The Senior System Architect will develop and explain IT solutions based on strategic business or technical requirements and define the approach for structuring each application.

The Senior System Architect will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the designing, building, implementing and operation of a modern Identity and Access Management (IAM) Solution that will replace the existing solution using AWS GovCloud in a FedRAMP environment.
  • Supporting the Operations and Maintenance of the existing solutions (building using Oracle, IBM and Cloud Base technology) until such time as the new solution is ready for transition
  • Analyzing data models to ensure efficient development of proper analysis
  • Supporting all aspects of operational, technical, and informational architecture
  • Discerning customer requirements and confirming models address them
  • Developing and explaining IT solutions based on strategic business or technical requirements
  • Defining the approach for structuring each application, including determining appropriate technological solutions
  • Defining and validating technical requirements and architecture quality attributes
  • Designing high-quality architecture aligned with organizational requirements
  • Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining DevOps infrastructure
  • Managing IT applications projects, including design, development, and implementation
  • Developing and communicating architectural proposals for various projects and initiatives
  • Developing and coordinating IT strategy and overseeing implementation of integrated systems
  • Analyzing business requirements for database design and executing necessary changes
  • Collaborating with business owners, analysts, engineers, development teams, and infrastructure services
  • Designing, validating, and implementing scalable system infrastructure
  • Evaluating and analyzing complex systems architecture for performance and efficiency improvements


Education and Experience:
  • Twelve (12)+ years of experience in supporting Information Technology
  • Seven (7)+ years of experience in supporting IBM Products, Oracle Products, and Cloud Base Products
  • AWS Solution Architect certification (mandatory)
  • Training and certification in IBM products


Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated understanding of the software development/enhancement/maintenance lifecycle
  • Ability to perform complex technical tasks
  • Strong technical understanding of Information Technology systems and services
  • Strong technical understanding of Identity and Access Management and AWS GovCloud systems
  • Experience with agile development/scrum methodologies
  • Understanding of how enhancements, defects, or other requests impact application architecture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Non-Sensitive / High Risk (Public Trust) security clearance (Tier 4/6c)
  • Expert knowledge of recent technological advances in computer science and engineering
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Desired Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience designing secure agile architectures that meet cybersecurity requirements
  • Experience with large-scale highly available systems integrated with business-critical systems
