The Hardware Engineering team leads the design, development and production of mechanical hardware at Raytheon. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and CORE principles. Mechanical Engineering's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test and documentation.
The Precision Control Actuation Systems (PCAS) department is part of the Hardware Engineering functional organization. PCAS is an engineering organization of approximately 145 people who are in Tucson, AZ and Huntsville, AL. We develop new Control Actuation Systems (CAS) including Aerodynamic Tail Fin and Canard Steering Control Sections, Thrust Vector, Attitude and Divert Control Systems, Control Surface and Wing Deployment mechanisms, Stage Separation and Nosecone Ejection Systems, and more.
The Precision Control and Actuation Systems (PCAS) department is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Execution Leader to join our team at the Tucson AZ facility. We are currently hiring a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (P5) to support a growing advanced program as the CAS sub-IPT lead. The role will require leading a development program team for CAS through test and qualification as well as supporting the Transition to Production (TTP) team.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

What You Will Do
- As an Engineering Execution Leader, you will drive excellence in development execution, managing all aspects of Integrated Product Team (IPT) functions, including planning, execution, Cost Account Management (CAM), Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reporting, resource management, and technical team leadership. You will collaborate closely with the Air Vehicle Cross Product Team (CPT) Lead as well as other program stakeholders such as the Program Chief Engineer, Program Manager, Supply Chain, Suppliers, Operations, Quality, and various engineering disciplines.
- Technical Leadership: Leverage CAS engineering expertise to solve complex design challenges, make data-driven technical decisions, and develop, integrate, and prove-in test equipment and associated integration assets. Provide mentoring and guidance to all team members.
- Program Management: Coordinate program staffing needs, mentor and coach team members, manage program budgets and schedules, and implement world-class risk management strategies. Report business metrics, including Estimates at Complete (EAC) to both the program and functional leadership.
- Liaison and Coordination: Provide day-to-day liaison between team members and programmatic leadership across all phases of development, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Proposal Support: Support proposal efforts, including cost Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROMs), formal Basis of Estimates (BOEs), project plans, and technology maturity plans.
- Leadership and Engagement: Engage senior management and technical leaders on various topics, demonstrating superior organizational, presentation, and tactical execution skills. Contribute to developing and aligning common program vision, execution strategies, and plans.
- Risk Management: Actively work with program integration lead to identify, manage, and mitigate risks or capture opportunities.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Minimum Ten (10) years of engineering experience in systems, or electrical, or mechanical design, with a preference for CAS development across all phases.
- Experience in roles such as Execution Lead, or IPT Lead, or Project Manager, or Program Manager.
- Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
Qualifications We Prefer
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related science degree
- Proven ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
- Experience in technical and cost proposal development, technical risk management, and managing cost and schedule requirements
- Strong presentation and technical writing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with Production and Transition to Production (TTP) programs
- Experience leading development and maintenance across multiple program sites
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven advocate for process improvement methodologies (e.g., CMMI, Six Sigma, CORE), team building, and effective partnership with internal resources.
- Cost Account Manager experience
- Program Management certification or experience
- DoD Secret Clearance
