The Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) team at Norfolk VA. The selected candidate for this endeavor will be responsible for designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging applications software and systems that incorporate logical and mathematical solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of software development best practices, Agile frameworks, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers.
• Determine computer user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Prepare operating instructions and ensure software standards are met.
• Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
• Provide engineering support for the technical implementation of cyber solutions in conjunction with hardware product development.
• Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis for various applications including medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, and scientific fields.
• Conduct vulnerability research, penetration testing, malware analysis, and reverse engineering development of computer network operations tools Software - Systems engineering Profile Description.docx.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain a T5 investigation clearance
• Possess or ability to obtain IAT Level 2 within 6 months of hire (Security+)
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in solving various levels of technical problems
• Experience in DoD Business IT supply, logistics, maintenance, and/or personnel administration systems for aviation, afloat, or shore activities
• At least 3 years' experience with software development for software applications.
• Experience in fields associated with DoD Business IT supply, logistics, maintenance, and/or personnel administration system for aviation, afloat, or shore activities.
• Knowledge of software development best practices.
• Skilled in Agile development frameworks.
• Experience with RDBMS such as Sybase, SQL Server, or Oracle.
• Skilled in C/C++, Java, SQL, Bash, Maven, and Make.
• Experience developing SOAP and RESTful Web Services.
• Experience with Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat.
• Experience testing and debugging code.
• Working knowledge of DevSecOps concepts including continuous delivery, deployment, integration, release process, versioning, configuration management, and build process.
• Experience with test frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG.
• Ability to coordinate and collaborate with members of a software development or systems engineering team.
• Knowledgeable with Micro Focus ALM and UFT. Familiarity with shared object repositories, function libraries, and creating reusable actions.
• Knowledgeable with Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational database management systems.
Desired:
Familiarity with JIRA is a plus.
