Waypoint's client is seeking a Systems Engineer III to provide critical engineering expertise in support of tactical network systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in systems engineering, network architecture, and acquisition program support, ensuring the successful development, integration, and modernization of Army communications systems.
Responsibilities
- Apply systems engineering processes, procedures, and best practices to support development, testing, evaluation, training, and configuration management for acquisition programs.
- Provide engineering support on transport and networking architecture, focusing on current and future tactical network capabilities.
- Conduct technical evaluations of network performance, architectures, risk assessments, and integration strategies.
- Support Capability Set (CS) and Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) activities by evaluating and integrating new technologies to modernize Army communications.
- Collaborate with Army stakeholders including PEO C3T, PMs, PdMs, and ACM to coordinate interoperability considerations.
- Review acquisition documentation (e.g., mission needs statements, ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, technical specifications) for Army tactical communications systems and translate requirements into standards-based, cost-effective technical solutions.
- Review Government performance work statements and contractor proposals for technical accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of tactical network systems engineering experience.
- A Bachelor's degree may be substituted with an additional 7 years of related tactical network systems engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience in network engineering.
- Proficiency in LAN/VLAN design and implementation.
- Expertise with routing protocols, multicast, routing configurations, and IPv4/IPv6 addressing.
- Experience in network protocol analysis using tools such as Sniffer or Wireshark.
- Familiarity with VMware and commercial communications equipment.
- Strong knowledge of transport and network architectures, end-to-end network design, and voice/data transmission over backbone networks.
- Understanding of RF engineering and tactical communications systems.
