Waypoint's client is seeking a SATCOM Engineer IV to provide in-depth technical assessments and systems engineering support for both commercial and military satellite communication systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SATCOM system design, performance analysis, and systems engineering methods, serving as a subject matter expert on transmission systems, architectures, and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assessments and analysis of activities within and between SATCOM programs.
• Support the design and evaluation of system architectures, terminals, waveforms, and access protocols.
• Analyze system performance, throughput, and response time, as well as operational requirements and system loading.
• Conduct systems engineering evaluations of satellite and terminal designs.
• Participate in proposal and technical evaluations for satellite systems.
• Support design reviews and perform evaluations of contractor designs for satellite and terminal systems.
• Translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable terms for diverse stakeholders.
• Coordinate effectively with PM TN and external organizations, including PEO C3T, ACM, HQDA, industry vendors, and ARSTRAT.
• Serve as an SME in all aspects of transmission, including modulation and coding, link budgets, RF equipment, antennas, waveforms, blockage mitigation, and related algorithms/protocols.
• Apply systems engineering methods and processes to perform SATCOM system analysis and evaluations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Military Standards (MIL-STDs) and certification processes.
• Provide insights into customer/vendor product development, proposals, marketing interaction, product design, and manufacturing processes.

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of SATCOM engineering experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree may be substituted with an additional 7 years of related SATCOM engineering experience.
• Strong technical expertise in SATCOM system architectures, performance analysis, and design evaluation.
• Ability to act as a Subject Matter Expert across transmission and satellite communications domains
