Location: Annapolis Junction, MD | Type: Full-Time | Clearance: TS/SCI with FS Polygraph

Overview

DarkStar Intelligence seeks a Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems. These systems include processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems, all based on documented requirements. The role requires working both individually and as part of a team to review and test software components for design compliance, document test results, and resolve software problem reports. The engineer will utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies and provide specific input on system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products. Additionally, the position involves conducting requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level to individual software components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems, including analytics, algorithm development, large data set manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems.
  • Review and test software components to ensure design compliance; document test results comprehensively.
  • Resolve software problem reports to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Apply appropriate software development and design methodologies to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Provide input on system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, reuse strategies, and COTS/GOTS integration.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level to software components to ensure integrated functionality.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with FS Polygraph.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution. Four (4) additional years of SWE experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, MongoDB, Kafka, AWS/ECR Suite, and RKE.

  • Debug and correct defects in existing software.
  • Recommend improvements for documentation and development processes.
  • Design and code new software or enhance existing software with new features.
  • Integrate software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Develop and execute data queries for databases or repositories.
  • Write or review technical documentation.
  • Serve as a team or technical lead for development teams.
  • Design and implement complex database interfaces and queries.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards.
  • Perform quality control on team products and enforce process compliance.
  • Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to derive requirements and address project constraints.
  • Coordinate software installation and monitor equipment to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.
  • Ensure quality and compliance across developed and modified software.


Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $220,000 - $260,000 annually

This pay range is intended as a general guideline and does not represent a guarantee of specific compensation. Final salary will be determined based on factors including responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market alignment, and applicable laws or agreements.
