We are seeking a skilled and motivated Linux Administrator to join our Federal IT Operations team. The successful candidate will manage and support enterprise Linux systems that are mission-critical to national security operations. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a secure, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
• Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions).
• Perform system administration tasks including user management, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Support system hardening and compliance with DoD/Federal security standards (STIGs, DISA, NIST).
• Manage storage, backup, and recovery solutions for Linux environments.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python, Ansible, Puppet, or similar) for system provisioning and configuration management.
• Support virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; implement proactive solutions.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to resolve system issues and improve reliability.
• Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and system updates.
• Participate in on-call support rotation and respond to critical system alerts.
• Support accreditation and certification activities in alignment with RMF (Risk Management Framework).
Required Qualifications
• Active Top Secret clearance (SCI eligibility strongly preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu preferred).
• Strong knowledge of system hardening, patch management, and security compliance.
• Hands-on experience with shell scripting and automation tools (Bash, Python, Ansible, Puppet, or similar).
• Experience with troubleshooting performance issues at system and application levels.
• Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).
• Understanding of storage systems (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS) and backup/recovery solutions.
• Ability to work effectively in a secure, team-oriented, mission-driven environment.
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience in federal government or DoD environments.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GovCloud).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and integration with Linux systems.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
• ITIL, Security+, or other relevant industry certifications.
