Overview
Insight Global is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to support a federal client in Charleston, SC. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining a VMware Software-Defined Datacenter (SDDC) infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in virtualization, automation, and infrastructure engineering, and must hold an active TS/SCI clearance.
Key Responsibilities
VMware Infrastructure Management
Architect, deploy, and maintain VMware vSphere environments including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
Storage & Networking
Manage and optimize software-defined storage (vSAN) and virtual networking components to ensure performance, availability, and security.
Automation & Orchestration
Use tools like Ansible and Terraform to automate deployment and configuration of datacenter resources.
Platform Support
Provide engineering support for server hardware, container platforms, and internal datacenter network fabric (physical and virtual switches).
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Design and maintain backup solutions, preferably using Rubrik (preferred but not required).
Troubleshooting & Escalation
Act as a senior escalation point for complex performance issues across compute and storage systems.
Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.)
VMware certification (VCA, VCP, VCAP, or VCX)
5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies
Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with VMware NSX-T (network virtualization)
