Waypoint's client is seeking an Advanced Architecture Analyst to join the Architecture Design Team, where you will shape the future of the Missile Defense System (MDS). This role is highly technical and strategic, requiring expertise in system-level architecture, capability trade studies, and coordination with senior DoD, Joint Staff, and Service-level stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of MDS elements, strong systems engineering experience, and the ability to influence enterprise-wide architecture decisions directly supporting the Warfighter.
Responsibilities:
- Define and evaluate MDS capability trade spaces, architectural performance metrics, and system-level measures.
- Scope, execute, and document the results of MDS architecture trade studies in support of the Architecture Design Team.
- Support the development of Initial Requirements Documents, Architecture Requirements Packages, and other MDS systems engineering artifacts.
- Lead and coordinate the development of architecture concepts to address projected capability gaps, real-world threats, and IC threat estimates.
- Coordinate across DoD, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Services, the Intelligence Community, OGAs, national labs, industry, and international partners to develop future vision and strategy.
- Support the Architecture Design Team by scoping trade study methodologies, establishing measures, and defining deliverables.
- Provide briefings, review products, and deliver informed recommendations to senior leadership.
- Coordinate future technology requirements across MDA, DoD, and the IC to ensure integration into MDS architectures.
- Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to ensure alignment of architectural trade studies and deliverables.
- Master's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree and 20+ years of experience.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Detailed knowledge of MDS architecture, including Command and Control networks.
- Familiarity with DoD and MDA processes, procedures, and acquisition frameworks.
- Ability to operate with minimal guidance and lead high-visibility architecture efforts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Navy veteran experience as an Aegis Weapon System EDO or Joint Interface Control Officer; alternatively, Army/Air Force veterans with knowledge of MDS elements such as THAAD, LTAMDS, Sentinel, PATRIOT, or GMD.
- Advanced understanding of MDS elements and their technical interdependencies beyond traditional systems engineering "architect" roles.
