Waypoint's client is seeking an Architecture Requirements Engineer to provide advanced technical expertise in support of the Missile Defense System (MDS). This role focuses on defining and evaluating MDS trade capability spaces, performance metrics, and system architectures. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in missile defense systems, the ability to assess adversary and allied capabilities, and a strong background in systems engineering to directly influence future defense architecture strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical support on missile defense activities, including adversary capabilities, systems engineering, and evaluation.
- Stay current on intelligence updates regarding emerging threat systems that could impact future MDS architectures.
- Assess the adequacy of MDS-including ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile defenses-and recommend improvements, CONOPS adjustments, and alternative strategies.
- Evaluate Allied Missile Defense systems and analyze integration opportunities with U.S. systems to enhance Unified Command Theater defense.
- Serve as a reach-back consulting resource for MDS development, facilitating collaboration across Services, Combatant Commands, and other stakeholders.
- Support analysis and provide technical recommendations through collaboration with FFRDCs, UARCs, and OGAs.
- Contribute to defense architecture evolution strategies through Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and related assessments.
- Assist in demonstrations, early milestone analyses, and feasibility tests to validate architecture assumptions.
- Master's degree in a STEM field.
- 12+ years of experience supporting missile defense or other complex, large-scale DoD programs.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Proven experience in missile defense and systems architecture.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Knowledge of hypersonic weapon systems, including capabilities and limitations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with emphasis on PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of MDS components, architectures, and operational concepts.
- Familiarity with MDA programs and MDS elements.
- Military operational experience, preferably within missile defense.
- Navy veteran experience (e.g., Aegis Weapon System EDO, Joint Interface Control Officer) or Army/Air Force veteran experience with MDS elements such as THAAD, LTAMDS, Sentinel, PATRIOT, or GMD.
