Waypoint's client is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) / Trajectory Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Targets and Countermeasures Program. This role focuses on technical analysis and assessment of missile defense targets with emphasis on GNC, Modeling & Simulation (M&S), trajectory, and vehicle performance. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned engineer with extensive missile defense expertise and hands-on experience in trajectory analysis and simulation tools.

This role focuses on technical analysis and assessment of missile defense targets with emphasis on GNC, Modeling & Simulation (M&S), trajectory, and vehicle performance. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned engineer with extensive missile defense expertise and hands-on experience in trajectory analysis and simulation tools.
Responsibilities :
- Support the MDA with development of Missile Defense System (MDS) target vehicles.
- Contribute to all aspects of target design, analysis, and testing, including requirements development, assessment, modeling and simulation, analysis, and reporting.
- Perform GNC design and performance assessments of target vehicles.
- Generate and analyze target vehicle 6-DoF and 3-DoF trajectory data using tools such as TAOS and in-house models (MATLAB, Python, C++).
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of technical experts to resolve engineering challenges.
- Apply expertise in missile design, flight dynamics, and system performance to support engineering tasks and data product development.
- Bachelor's degree with 20+ years of missile defense or DoD-related program experience OR Master's degree with 12+ years of experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Strong understanding of aerodynamics, equations of motion, coordinate systems, vehicle dynamics, and GNC principles.
- Hands-on experience in missile trajectory analysis, including endo- and exo-atmospheric behaviors, coordinate frames, and trajectory parameter identification.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or lead teams in analyzing and resolving technical challenges.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Master's degree in a STEM field (physics, engineering, mathematics, etc.).
- Familiarity with MDA programs, systems, and processes.
- Experience with M&S tools such as TAOS and STK.
- Background in missiles, missile defense targets, or hypersonic weapons.
