Our client is currently seeking a Junior Network Engineering Technician to work fully onsite in Fort Belvoir, VA
Must start with an active CCNA Routing and Switching certification and an IAT-II level certification such as Security+CE. Higher level IAT-II certifications, such as CCNA Security, will also be accepted to fulfill this requirement.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Supports the Government by performing a variety of broad network engineering tasks focused on the design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of the RNEC-NCR intricate network infrastructure (including the Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN).
Uses AESMP ticket submissions for work assignments responding to critical and VIP tickets within two (2) hours of notification by telephone or e-mail by appropriate Government authority.
Support Network operations with activities such as, installation of new modified hardware, operating systems and software applications ensuring compliance with Information Assurance ( IA) security integrity requirements for the enclave, installation of the LAN, WAN, SONET and related equipment, maintaining critical components of the ICAN from the edge router to the Area Distribution Switches (NIPR/layer 2, SIPR/Layer #) on a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week on call basis, supporting the network system, and configuring and supporting the use of DOD Common Access Card (CAC) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for user authentication into the network and into applications and for signing and encrypting electronic mail. (CAC authentication into the network is mandatory unless an exception is granted by the Government.)
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must possess a SECRET security clearance.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, from 7am-3:30pm with on-call availability to aid in 24/7 support.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, however experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years' of relevant experience.
- Must possess an active CCNA Routing and Switching certification in addition to a IAT-II level certification such as Security+ CE to start. Higher level IAT-II certifications, such as CCNA Security will be accepted to fulfill this requirement as well.
- Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written) to adequately communicate inputs/guidance to Network Engineers, interact with the government customer and to accommodate possible interactions with senior government officials.
- Customer prefers candidates who demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the communications networks and systems employed by the customer.
