Overview: Cyber Defense Technologies (CDT) is seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Tier 2/ System Administrator to provide advanced technical support, systems maintenance, and troubleshooting in a dynamic and security sensitive environment. This position will be onsite in Chantilly, VA.
Clearance Requirements: An active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is required. Candidates who do not meet these clearance requirements will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
• Provide Tier 2 support for escalated technical issues related to Windows, Linux, and/or Mac systems.
• Perform system diagnostics, maintenance, patching, and updates to ensure optimal performance and security compliance.
• Monitor system performance and availability using established tools and dashboards.
• Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other network and directory services.
• Maintain system documentation, configuration management records, and SOPs.
• Collaborate with Tier 1, Tier 3, and engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols, data protection standards, and change management procedures.
• Assist with onboarding/offboarding users and managing access permissions.
• Support incident response and root cause analysis for system outages or breaches.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong understanding of networking principles with experience setting up and troubleshooting 3+ years of experience in a system administration role, preferably in a cleared environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and/or Linux systems.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
• Understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• CompTIA Security+, CEH, or other DoD 8570-compliant certifications.
• Experience supporting classified systems or working within a secure facility.
• Familiarity with ITIL framework or ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Jira.
• Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
