This position supports the National Coordination Office (NCO) for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) by providing expert engineering and programmatic analysis on PNT systems and applications. The NCO serves as the permanent staff of the National Executive Committee for Space-Based PNT, facilitating interagency coordination, consensus development, and issue resolution across federal departments and agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical and programmatic analysis on Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems and their applications to support national priorities.
• Work directly with senior government officials and interagency stakeholders to inform and support strategic initiatives related to the Global Positioning System (GPS) and other PNT systems.
• Apply innovative and advanced engineering techniques to enhance system performance, solve complex technical challenges, and increase operational efficiency.
• Conduct data analysis using modeling, simulation, and various analytical tools; prepare technical reports and summaries of findings.
• Support high-level projects through development, validation, and dissemination of critical technical data, presentations, and briefings.
• Participate in internal and interagency collaboration meetings; assist with meeting logistics, scheduling, communications, documentation, and task tracking.
• Represent the NCO at relevant conferences, workshops, and technical forums; provide summaries, reports, and follow-up action items as needed.
• Contribute to the preparation and review of materials for senior-level decision-making and interagency coordination.
Location
Department of Commerce (National Capital Region).
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably with an emphasis on systems engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in engineering, systems analysis, or a related technical field.
Qualifications
• Background in engineering, systems analysis, or related technical field.
• Experience supporting or working directly with senior government officials is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze complex datasets and present findings clearly and concisely.
• Familiarity with GPS, PNT technologies.
Required
Must be US Government Security Clearance Eligible. Have proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work in a team setting with rapidly moving deadlines is essential along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility for occasional travel. Demonstrate technical capability in handling and analyzing scientific datasets from space-based sensors, modeling and simulation technologies and data visualization.
