Our client, a large government integrator, is looking to hire an experienced Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month onsite contract. The consultant can work either out of the Washington, DC or Martinsburg, WV data centers. The Infrastructure Shared Services (ISS) contract provides enterprise-wide IT solutions, including engineering, development, integration, and operations across platforms and cloud environments. In this role, the engineer will architect, configure, and optimize hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure, supporting containerization, virtualization, DevOps pipelines, and disaster recovery.
The consultant will lead efforts in capacity planning, performance tuning, Zero Trust initiatives, and integration with shared services such as identity and access management. The consultant will design, build, and support hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure for hosting applications and shared platforms.
The consultant will support infrastructure for taxpayer-facing web apps, compliance systems, and critical filing season platforms as well as engineer disaster recovery and continuity-of-operations environments, including Alternate Site Processing (ASP). The consultant will provide database engineering and migration support (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and optimize and tune infrastructure for high availability and scalability during filing season workloads.

- Must have strong hands-on coding experience with infrastructure automation and deployment tools.
- 7+ years of relevant hands-on experience in leading and implementing government contract programs.
- Experience designing, building, and supporting hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure for hosting applications and shared platforms.
- Able to provide engineering for AWS/Azure environments, including microservices, API gateways, Kinesis, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
- Implement virtualization, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps automation (Ansible, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
- Experience leading Zero Trust architecture efforts, including ICAM, Ping integration, and authorization frameworks.
- Support network design, modeling, and WAN capacity analysis for modernization systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable APIs that connect IRS systems, data platforms, and shared enterprise services.
