JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer and Tester supports the CDC’s information technology enterprise by validating the quality, stability, and performance of the ServiceNow platform and associated applications. This position blends manual and automated testing in a low-code environment, with a focus on ServiceNow platform functionality. The QA Engineer collaborates with developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery. The role includes designing, executing, and documenting test cases, participating in Agile ceremonies, managing multiple test phases, and ensuring traceability of requirements, defects, and test results.
Job Duties:
• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for ServiceNow platform and application functionality.
• Collaborate with development teams to validate and test ServiceNow functionality against requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Manage and perform testing across QA, unit, functional, regression, systems integration, and user acceptance phases.
• Document all test cases, test scripts, and results in ServiceNow (or approved test management tools).
• Support testing and implementation of platform upgrades and patches, ensuring stability and compatibility.
• Coordinate with product owners and internal teams to triage and remediate defects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives), contributing to QA planning and test coverage estimation.
• Maintain documentation and traceability for defects, test cases, and outcomes to meet CDC compliance requirements.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
Years’ Experience:
• Minimum of 6+ years overall industry experience in QA/testing or related IT roles.
• 4+ years as a Low-Code Tester in enterprise environments.
• 1+ years of hands-on ServiceNow testing experience (including ATF, workflows, catalog items, forms/UI policies, and flows).
Experience:
• Proficiency in ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) and manual ServiceNow testing.
• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
• Knowledge of regression, integration, and API testing.
• Familiarity with scripting for low-code contexts (JavaScript, JSON, REST).
• Methodology:
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, QA best practices, and risk-based testing.
• Experience maintaining requirements traceability and audit-ready documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple test efforts in parallel.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or other relevant ServiceNow certifications.
• Experience testing integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare or public health IT environments.
• Knowledge of accessibility and basic performance testing methods.
