Duties

  • Direct the commands behavioral health program across 15 subordinate units.
  • Develop policies and strategies aligned with directives.
  • Allocate and manage resources to meet enterprise behavioral health needs.
  • Deliver advanced clinical care for high risk and complex cases
  • Conduct specialized assessments to support operational readiness.
  • Ensure all treatments meet organizational standards.
  • Lead and evaluate behavioral health staff performance.
  • Assign workloads and manage staffing across the enterprise.
  • Maintain licensure and credentialing compliance for all providers.
  • Advise senior leaders on behavioral health readiness and risk.
  • Brief commanders on trends affecting force resilience.
  • Coordinate enterprise initiatives with higher headquarters and partners.
Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and selected Special Access Program (SAPs) based on a Tier 5 ( or equivalent) investigation.
  • Drug testing is required. In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, the incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
  • Employee must reside within the local area (50 miles) and able to report to work within an hour notice
  • May require uncommon tour of duty hours; which may include evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • May require TDY travel up to 30 days CONUS and OCONUS up to 20% of the time.
  • Must have and maintain license to practice clinical social work and maintain credentialing requirements IAW AR 40-48 and standards published by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker:

Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Manages behavioral health services by directing clinical operations, developing policies, and coordinating care to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations; Plans, develops, and directs behavioral health programs across multiple units or locations, including mental health and family counseling services; Oversees complex or high-risk caseloads that exceed the routine capabilities of other clinical staff; Executes program objectives by independently planning, implementing, and evaluating initiatives to achieve organizational goals.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

Education
