Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care and clinical support to law enforcement trainees and staff at FLETC training sites. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, or Physicians, the LPN plays a vital role in supporting daily health services and ensuring compliance.

There will be one Licensed Practical Nurse assigned to each FLETC site: Artesia, Charleston, and Glynco.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist in the delivery of routine medical care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and supporting treatment plans
  • Provide support during health screenings and minor procedures
  • Administer medications - Prescriptions for Common Ailments
  • Inform patients that prescriptions must be filled off-site at their own expense
  • Ensure medications are stocked and reordered based on projected needs
  • Support documentation and reporting of work-related injuries and illnesses:
    • Assist with TAIRS electronic questionnaire completion
    • Ensure timely documentation of treatment and follow-up
    • Guide patients through Workers' Compensation procedures and eComp forms
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA and FLETC standards
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong attention to detail and patient care skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with federal occupational health procedures and systems

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of a state-approved practical nursing program (usually a diploma or certificate)
  • Have a valid, unencumbered medical license in the state for which they are hired
  • Minimum one (1) year healthcare field experience, including urgent care, within the last three (3) years.
  • Shall be required to have a valid DEA number and professional liability with tail insurance.
  • Must have a Public Trust clearance
