Engineering - Systems
Pentagon, DC (On-Site/Office)
Provide technical support to the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) to conduct rigorous mission engineering activities to identify and prioritize investments in capabilities with the potential to meet current and future warfighting needs, close warfighting gaps, and enable Joint Force interoperability and integration. In addition to harness modeling and simulation (M&S) tools and advanced techniques to develop and analyze critical Joint Mission Engineering Threads (METs) / "Kill Webs" in operational scenarios, enabling DoD leaders to make informed technology investment decisions.
Roles/Responsibilities:
● Applies professional knowledge of scientific and engineering concepts. principals, phenomena and relationships to assess specific requirements, delineate appropriately engineered designs, and develop preliminary and final design plans, engineering specifications, cost estimates and procurement packages in support of the operation, preventive maintenance and repair of mechanical. electrical, plumbing, utility and mission critical systems and equipment.
● Experience in designing and execution quantitative mission-level modeling and simulation analyses/studies to assess performance, trade-offs, and impacts of systems or technology within defense or military areas.
● Knowledge of using mission-level digital tools such as AFSIM. This includes development of models for scenarios, missions, and systems; and data post-processing to include extraction, transformation, statistical analysis, and visualization of simulation outputs; and debugging simulation models and resolve software, scripting, or logic errors within model implementations.
● Experience with mission architecture (mission threads), kill chains, kill webs, and integrating models to represent DoD system-of-systems performance across domains (e.g., space, air, maritime (sea), land, cyber).
Required Skills and Education:
● 4 years of experience in designing and execution quantitative mission-level modeling and simulation analyses/studies to assess performance, trade-offs, and impacts of systems or technology within defense or military areas.
-3 years using mission-level digital tools such as AFSIM. This includes development of models for scenarios, missions, and systems; and data post-processing to include extraction, transformation, statistical analysis, and visualization of simulation outputs; and debugging simulation models and resolve software, scripting, or logic errors within model implementations.
-3 years experience with mission architecture (mission threads), kill chains, kill webs, and integrating models to represent DoD system-of-systems performance across domains (e.g., space, air, maritime (sea), land, cyber).
