ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Fire Chief for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located at Eareckson Air Station in Shemya, AK.

This is a rotational position where the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Eareckson Air Station and 1 month off. While working on-site, housing is provided as a dormitory facility. All meals are served through the cafeteria.

Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK, is provided by government-sponsored aircraft.

The Fire Chief is primarily responsible for the entire fire department. The Fire Chief is responsible for exercising leadership, maintaining high team performance, and directing and inspecting the performance of personnel assigned to their site. Establish and maintain policies and procedures, provide direction, delegate duties and responsibilities, and ensure his/her selected staff manage their assignments effectively. Ensure a harmonious environment and must take an active role to coach/counsel subordinate employees as necessary.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Responsible for protection of life and property on Eareckson Air Station and the direction and control of fire and rescue crews in the performance of routine and emergency work assignments.
  • Oversees the development of fire department programs, which maintain high standards of preparedness with the goal to fulfill the requirements of the contract with maximum effectiveness.
  • Assigns fire department personnel, organizes and directs work, communicates performance standards and safety regulations, monitors activities, evaluates performance and recommends need for change.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings to integrate activities, communicate issues, resolve problems and maintains specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with management regarding activities within their area of responsibility.
  • Develops, maintains and enforces departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet contract needs.


Required Qualifications:
  • HS diploma or GED required and Bachelor's degree preferred in related field with seven (7) years' experience in fire operations and management. Equivalent education/experience is acceptable.
  • Trained and certified by either an accredited certification academy recognized by Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency (AFCESA) or obtained certification through the Good Fellow AFB Fire Academy.
  • Fire Chief will be Fire Officer I, II, III, IV
  • Fire Inspector I, II/Fire Instructor I, I
  • Must Be Haz Mat Awareness, Operations, Technician,
  • Must be an Incident Commander
  • NIMS 100, 200, 300, 700, and 800
  • Certified IAW DoDI 6055.06, DoD Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Program.
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete a training program that completes the requirements of NFPA 1001, 1002, 1410, 1403, 1404, 1500, 472.
  • Must possess an Emergency Vehicle Operator's Certificate.
  • Must possess hazardous materials certification to the operations level within one year of hire date.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment fingerprints and drug test.
