Our team in Pensacola, FL has an immediate need for a SQL Database Administrator. Primary responsibilities include:
• Review of server and database logs to identify and address issues or anomalies
• Schedule and perform regular backups, validate restore procedures, ensure data recoverability, and manage backup storage
• Manage user access, enforce security policies, and conduct regular audits of user permissions to maintain a secure database environment
• Perform tuning and optimization queries, indexes, and server configurations to resolve performance issues. Ensure all database parameters are maintained for efficiency
• Collaborate with MNOC Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to implement schema changes as the networks evolves with technology upgrades and refreshes, and help plan for necessary hardware upgrades to accommodate future needs
• Maintain Disaster Recovery high availability through clustering, and plan and test disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime
• Manage SQL Server patches and updates to ensure systems remain secure and up-to-date
• Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve database-related issues as reported by users or monitoring tools, and often collaborate with support teams
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for database configurations, procedures, and processes
• Maintain currency with emerging SQL Server features and best practices, and share expertise with other MNOC team members
• Work closely with Windows System Administrators, and other MNOC SMEs to ensure database architecture and performance align with organizational mission objectives
• Perform security auditing and ensure compliance with security policies, and implement necessary changes to meet compliance standards

Job Requirements
•Minimum 5 years of experience in the design, installation, configuration, administration, and support of SQL Server databases (2019/2014) in a high-availability production environment
•Experience and understanding of SQL Server clustering, Availability Group, partitioning and mirroring
•Experience managing and testing backup and recovery plans, ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
•Advanced knowledge of ETL tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation, data transformation, and efficient data access and querying across diverse data sources
•IAT Level 2 Required. Microsoft SQL Server or other relevant SQL/database certifications (IAWF DoD 8570.01M) Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) (preferred but not required)
This is NOT a remote position. You must report to the office daily (Mon-Fri)
