Mid. Textile Engineer (Strategic Material Production)
Description:
- Supports defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific / engineering research, reverse engineering analysis/ characterizations, facility and vulnerability assessments on foreign military textile capabilities including, but not limited to, textiles for D&D; personal equipment, tactical wear (e.g. IR suppressant uniforms, body armor); personal protective gear (firefighting and fire suppressant, chemical protection); and fabrics for structural applications.
- This includes, but is not limited to, textile engineering sub-disciplines of geotextile engineering, materials engineer, fiber physics, mill engineering, and fabric manufacturing technology.
- Prepares technical and analytic products of findings and responds to DoD, Research and Development (R&D), and Acquisition Communities.
- Possess either a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field: chemical, civil/industrial, electrical, mechanical, etc.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate classified and open-source intelligence; identify intelligence gaps and submit collection requirements.
- Make detailed, all-source assessments and prepare quality intelligence products on complex foreign industries issues.
- Assess foreign capabilities, deficiencies, and vulnerabilities of defense industries to ascertain how they impact military industrial potential, on the national economy, and on material feedstock in weapon systems and military equipment.
- Identify and map associated industrial organizations and supplier networks and analyze industrial management systems and key industrial personalities.
- Maintain, monitor and assure the quality of databases (MTDB/MARS) describing military industrial facilities, programs and networks.
- Perform vulnerability assessments of individual industrial facilities.
- Coordinate with S&T laboratories to enhance knowledge base.
- Consult with customers, management, and/or senior analysts to anticipate requirements and optimize production in response to customer requirements.
- Work with other Division intelligence analysts on chemical industry issues.
- Brief senior leadership and policymakers on chemical industry key trends.
- Maintain interface with the community on materials and industrial research and production developments.
Security Clearance:
- Security clearance required TS/SCI with CI POLY or the ability to obtain CI POLY.
Job Requirements
Desired experiences:
- At least 8 years of experience conducting analysis relevant to the specific labor category with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
Desired education:
- Bachelor's degree in an area related to the labor category from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- An additional 4 years of experience in the specific labor category, for a total of 12 years of experience in the specific labor category, may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
