We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to help design and develop of innovative mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in 3D CAD design and drawings. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and external contractors to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet project requirements and deadlines. This will be an on-site role located in the Knoxville TN area. This role also requires that you have a clean track record that will enable you to obtain a DOE Q security clearance, therefore US Citizenship is a requirement. The successful candidate will be rewarded with a base salary, company benefits and a generous amount of stock options.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Required Expertise
Experience: 5-10 years in mechanical engineering with a focus on the nuclear industry (desired).
Mechanical System Design: Design and develop 3D-CAD designed mechanical systems, performing tolerance analyses, making engineering drawings and ensuring compliance with performance, quality, and safety standards. Experience with regulatory compliance in the nuclear space is highly desirable.
3D-CAD Software: Ability to use SolidWorks for design and drawings.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including specifications, design reports, and technical presentations relevant to the nuclear industry.
Machine Shop interfacing: Interface with machine shops to bring 3D-CAD designs to reality, knowledge in CNC machining, 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing highly desirable.

Hands-on experience with assembly and testing
Design experience with precision mechanisms
Design or operating experience with UF6
Design for gases and vacuum systems
Designing dynamic seals for gases
Optomechanical design
