Summary

The System Administrator for the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) plays a critical role in supporting the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN)-a foundational infrastructure that powers enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications essential to Navy readiness and warfighter training.

This position involves hands-on administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity defense of client and server systems across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will work both independently and collaboratively to ensure system reliability, security compliance, and operational excellence.

What you will do

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019), Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Configure DHCP reservations, manage DNS settings, and support release upgrades
  • Apply patches and implement DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) across systems
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot Tier 2 technical issues across Windows and Linux platforms
  • Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide training to junior personnel
  • Support virtualized environments using VMware and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD security standards
  • Interface with internal stakeholders to manage customer needs and prioritize technical tasks


What you must have

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree in a related field and 3 years of relevant experience
  • PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field (no experience required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience
Required Credentials
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Current or Active DoD Secret clearance (must be maintained)
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or equvalent/higher-level certification (required) to meet DoD 8570.1-M and SECNAV M-5239.2 requirements at the Information Assurance Technician Level II (IAT-II)
Skills & Attributes
  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Experience with patch management tools (WSUS or SCCM) and DoD STIG compliance
  • Familiarity with Windows 10 SHB and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8)
  • Hands-on experience with VMware and VDI technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows and Linux platforms
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate clearly
  • High attention to detail and strong customer service orientation


Preferred Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related
  • Linux+ or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or equivalent certification
  • Experience installing and managing release upgrades
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform
  • Experience with system monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, ELK)
  • Prior experience supporting DoD simulation or training environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead security audits and document compliance
