Job Description
The Red Gate Group is seeking a Communications Branding Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) with high-impact communications and branding efforts. This role sits at the intersection of strategic messaging, design, and executive engagement within a complex, enterprise-level IT program. You will help craft compelling narratives, shape the visual identity of key initiatives, and deliver clear, consistent communications across the defense intelligence enterprise.
As a trusted advisor to program leadership and the Communications Team, you will be instrumental in translating technical concepts into clear, audience-appropriate materials—elevating how the Program Office engages stakeholders both internally and across the broader DoD and IC communities. This is a highly collaborative, creative, and mission-critical position that combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently develop and present creative concepts that simplify complex technical topics for non-technical audiences.
Ensure all communications and visual products meet established branding standards and resonate with executive and stakeholder audiences.
Lead and collaborate on the creation and release of communication tools, including blog posts, instructional videos, apps, and guides.
Oversee production of digital and print materials that align with project briefs and customer expectations.
Craft tailored communication strategies leveraging executive voice, targeted messaging, and audience segmentation.
Plan communication frequency, channels, and stakeholder coordination across the DIA, the defense intelligence enterprise, and the IC.
Monitor multiple communications channels to identify and respond to requests for information.
Partner closely with program leadership to drive branding, engagement, and information-sharing initiatives.
Qualifications
Active/current TS/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a CI polygraph.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic communications, ideally within the DoD, IC, or other federal environments.
Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting IT-related programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Demonstrated ability to write and present clearly under tight deadlines.
Deep understanding of branding principles and AP style.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to quickly learn new tools and platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in public affairs, corporate communications, or strategic messaging within the DoD or IC.
Experience managing communications deliverables across multiple clients and stakeholders.
Familiarity with enterprise IT systems, development, and integration.
Project management experience, including leading teams in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
