Job Description
HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our team at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. This role has the ability to be remote working from the United States but will require the selected applicant to travel to Germany. *This is a 3 month assignment.*
The Systems Engineer will demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. The qualified systems engineer will have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

Job Description

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
- Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
- Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
- Solid Cloud experience
- Experience with monitoring systems.
- Experience with automation software. (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
- Solid scripting skills. (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
- Solid networking knowledge. (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
- Clearance: Posses and maintain a minimun of a Secret clearance.
Preferred Requirements
- Clearance: Posses and maintains a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience, OR; An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialize experience, OR; 11 years of recent specialized experience.
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject with 3 years of experience.
- AWS Cloud experience.
