The Opportunity:
We're seeking an experienced Configuration Release Management professional with a proven track record of consistently delivering releases in a controlled and secure manner to join our team in Norfolk Va. as a Software Configuration Release Management Specialist. As a Software Configuration Release Management Specialist you will principally be responsible for overseeing the release management processes for the Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS). Your role is to ensure that software releases are controlled, documented, and delivered according to established procedures and standards. You will work closely with development, testing, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of software updates. This role adheres to the Incremental development life cycle model to manage configuration items (CIs) from inception through disposal.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. Responsibilities:
The scope of responsibilities of the Configuration Release Management Specialist covers the entire incremental life cycle to include the following categories:
1. Release Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, and testers to define release schedules and content.
- Ensure that release plans align with project milestones and stakeholder requirements.
2. Configuration Management:
- Manage CIs and ensure they are properly versioned and baselined.
- Utilize version control systems (e.g., Subversion), media burning software, and ISO creation tools and media burning software (Roxio, CDBurner, etc.) for version control and media creation.
3. Release Execution:
- Execute the release process, including packaging, labeling, and distribution of software releases.
- Ensure that all release components, including documentation and ancillary materials, are included.
4. Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with FIAR and DoD Configuration Management standards.
- Conduct configuration audits and reviews to verify the integrity and accuracy of released software.
5. Change Management:
- Use Jira to log and manage change requests. Each change is to be tracked through its lifecycle from initiation to implementation and review.
- Implement workflows in Jira to route change requests through necessary approval stages before implementation.
6. Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate release results and status to project leads and other stakeholders.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of release activities and outcomes.
7. Tool and Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving release management processes and tools.
- Implement enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness in release management
- Apply the SELC methodology to manage configuration items (CIs) from inception through disposal.
- Ensure that all CIs are identified, documented, and baselined according to the SELC stages.
- Generate, maintain, and verify the accuracy of SBOMs for all software components and dependencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure SBOMs effectively support use cases such as vulnerability management, asset management, and compliance
Qualifications:
- US Citizen
- Must have a secret clearance and must be able to obtain a T5 investigation clearance
- Possess a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification or higher (ex. CompTIA Security+, Network +, CISSP) or capability to obtain within 6 months from hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in version control systems such as Subversion (preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of Jira or similar issue tracking tools
- Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications i.e. Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.
- Familiarity with SBOM tools and compliance.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination and stakeholders and documentation.
