ASRC Federal is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Security Administrator to support a dedicated cybersecurity environment for a federal client. The ideal candidate will assist with organizational and operational activities, provide in-depth system administration, and support incident response and threat remediation efforts across Linux and Windows environments.
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid - Minimum 3 days onsite per week; subject to client requirements)
Clearance Requirement: Active DOE Q-Clearance, TS Clearance, or ability to obtain a DOE Q-Clearance
Travel Requirement: Occasional domestic travel may be required

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, support, and maintain secure Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Windows-based systems and networks.
- Perform routine system monitoring, maintenance, and vulnerability management.
- Conduct real-time incident detection, forensics, threat remediation, and vulnerability assessments.
- Manage and configure cybersecurity tools and platforms including Splunk, Splunk ES, Splunk ITSI, Palo Alto Firewalls and GlobalProtect, Tenable.sc, Nessus Manager with Agent, Forescout CounterACT, Carbon Black, Tanium, Rubrik, Corelight IDS, Fidelis Networks, SentryWire, Cisco switches, VMware vSphere, vCenter, and Workstation.
- Implement and maintain configuration management standards and hardening guidance.
- Support incident management, system testing, and operational readiness of cyber defense tools.
- Prepare and deliver threat-based system and program-level analysis reports and briefings.
- Contribute to unified threat management activities and actor-based threat intelligence efforts.
- Participate in technology evaluations and provide alternative analysis for technology replacement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely within a team environment that requires multi-tasking, flexibility, and cross-training in various cybersecurity domains.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, and networking
- Strong understanding of LAN/WAN networking, PIV authentication, and cyber threat landscapes
- Experience working in hybrid environments and across multiple time zones
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Eligibility to obtain a DOE Q-Clearance or currently holds a DOE Q/TS equivalent clearance
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CEH, GIAC)
- Product-specific certifications (e.g., Splunk Certified Admin, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Tenable Certified)
- Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, FISMA)
