The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a highly capable Infrastructure Modernization Specialist to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO). This position independently supports an Action Officer and plays a critical role in enterprise-level Data Center Optimization and Technical Debt Elimination initiatives. The contractor will support efforts such as the Global Computing Fabric (GCF), Data Center Resilience and Optimization Platform (DROP), and Tech Debt Insight (TDI), working closely with government leads to drive measurable modernization outcomes.
Responsibilities include supporting technical debt discovery, mapping, lifecycle tracking, and prioritization; assisting in developing strategic and operational plans for legacy system retirement and TDM elimination; and helping with data center consolidation, resiliency, and optimization initiatives through DCIM tools, AI-driven automation, and predictive analytics. The contractor will also assist in hybrid cloud migration strategies and ensure alignment with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles and cybersecurity compliance mandates.
In addition, the ideal candidate will lead DoD CIO oversight of Joint Reginal Security Stack (JRSS) deprecation planning and implementation. Provide technical support for tracking of progress / milestones with the DISA JRSS Project Management Office (PMO) and the four remaining DoD Components that are deprecating off JRSS, primarily US Army and US Air Force. Conduct reviews of Component deprecation plans/activities. Create briefs, scorecards, etc. for DoD CIO leadership on JRSS matters. Hold periodic technical discussions with client on the state of JRSS deprecation. Support client's messaging activities at JRSS planning board meetings and other forums.
This role directly supports the Department's efforts to accelerate technical debt elimination, optimize infrastructure resilience and efficiency, and strengthen cybersecurity and operational agility across the DoD enterprise.
This position is 100% ONSITE working 5 days a week at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities:
• Leads DoD CIO oversight of JRSS deprecation planning and implementation. Provides technical support for tracking of progress/milestones with the DISA JRSS Project Management Office (PMO) and the four remaining DoD Components that are deprecating off JRSS, primarily US Army and US Air Force.
• Conducts reviews of Component deprecation plans/activities. Creates briefs, scorecards, etc. for DoD CIO leadership on JRSS matters. Holds periodic technical discussions with client on the state of JRSS deprecation. Supports client's messaging activities at JRSS planning board meetings and other forums.
• Provide independent SME-level support to a DoD CIO Action Officer as a hybrid data and policy analyst.
• Engineer, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards to visualize technical debt scores, decommissioning progress, and infrastructure performance metrics across TDM, TDI, and DROP.
• Apply human-centered design (HCD) principles to produce UI/UX artifacts, including personas, mockups, and user journeys, that improve usability of CIO tools.
• Participate in and document stakeholder meetings, working groups, and internal strategy sessions, draft meeting summaries, white papers, and internal memos.
• Prepare and respond to CATMS taskers and executive-level inquiries in alignment with CIO priorities and policy frameworks.
• Leverage and develop Advana, Jira, and Confluence to track deliverables, manage technical documentation, and support portfolio transparency and alignment.
• Analyze infrastructure telemetry and lifecycle data to support strategic recommendations for Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), hybrid cloud migration, and enterprise modernization.
