As a member of our team, you will help to assist USSOCOM, Service Component Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOC), and deployed forces in the delivery of a full spectrum of Information Technology (IT) services to operate and maintain information flow, communications, and connectivity globally.

Provide asset management specialist services and software inventory control analysis to maintain consistent accountability of software assets supporting the SIE. The Software Asset Management Specialist ensures that software is properly received in an ITSM approved database and documented in accordance with USSOCOM requirements. The Software Asset Management Specialist will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of software assets across USSOCOM's IT Enterprise, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing software usage, and mitigating risks.

Job description
Provide asset management specialist services and software inventory control analysis to maintain consistent accountability of software assets supporting the SIE. The Software Asset Management Specialist ensures that software is properly received in an ITSM approved database and documented in accordance with USSOCOM requirements. The Software Asset Management Specialist will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of software assets across USSOCOM's IT Enterprise, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing software usage, and mitigating risks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage multiple data repositories for tracking software licensing metadata and support agreements.
- Track licenses, maintenance plans, renewal information, and media for software.
- Identify license compliance issues and coordinate resolutions.
- Perform periodic audits to reconcile licenses utilized with authorized licenses.
- Conduct periodic license reviews 120 days prior to the expiration of software license and maintenance agreements.
- Report exceptions to vendor terms and conditions, including license non-compliance, to the Software Manager.
- Maintain warranty and maintenance coverage for software, including contractor-purchased and Government-purchased items.
- Provide monthly reports on the status of license expirations.
- Advise the Software Manager on software acquisition and discontinuation decisions.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with software license compliance.
- Recommend licenses adjustments based on usage data.
- Support the development and maintenance of approved policies and procedures for effective software asset lifecycle management.
- Develop and report on key metrics to measure the effectiveness of software asset management processes.
- License Requirements/Renewal Reports: Document licensing needs and renewal schedules as required/requested.
- Asset Inventory and Tracking Reports: Provide updated software inventory status.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software asset management, including tracking, auditing, and compliance.
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks such as ITIL.
- Proficiency in managing enterprise-wide software license agreements, maintenance plans, and vendor relationships.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting software usage trends and mitigating software-related risks.
- ITIL certification.
- DoD TS/SCI clearance or above is required.
- Potential to work shifts during exercises.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with USSOCOM's IT systems and operational environments.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) software licensing policies and procedures.
- Expertise in software license audits and reconciliation processes.
- Strong understanding of warranty and maintenance coverage for software assets.
- Advanced reporting and communication skills to provide visibility into asset management effectiveness.
- Ability to recommend and implement process improvements to optimize software management.
Education:
- High School Diploma with 6 years of experience OR AA + 4 yrs of experience OR BS + 2 years of experience OR MS + 0 years of experience
Clearance:
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
