Waypoint's client is seeking an Intermediate Target Requirements Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Threat Systems Engineering Directorate. This role focuses on managing flight test assessment objectives and developing parametric target specifications based on intelligence-driven threat models. The engineer will help translate threat assessments into requirements for flight test targets, including trajectory, radar cross-section (RCS), and infrared (IR) signature development.

Waypoint's client is seeking an Intermediate Target Requirements Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Threat Systems Engineering Directorate. This role focuses on managing flight test assessment objectives and developing parametric target specifications based on intelligence-driven threat models. The engineer will help translate threat assessments into requirements for flight test targets, including trajectory, radar cross-section (RCS), and infrared (IR) signature development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and engineering analysis of MDA flight test target requirements products to ensure accuracy, completeness, and coordination for government approval.
- Develop technical requirements and documentation for target system specifications, including RF signature specs, flight test target parameters, and deviations from baseline requirements.
- Translate threat assessments into technical details that support Target System Performance Specifications and Threat Trajectory Memoranda.
- Evaluate intelligence-based threat performance data to derive realistic target parameters and define threat-representative flight test scenarios.
- Conduct feasibility assessments of target trajectories based on defined threat and mission requirements.
- Analyze radar cross-section and infrared signature data in support of flight test planning and requirements development.
- Prepare technical briefings and present data analysis results to internal teams and agency stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience supporting missile defense or DoD programs.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Proficiency in developing and writing technical requirements.
- Experience with technical or statistical analysis methods.
- Background in RCS and/or RF signature analysis.
- Experience with IR signature analysis.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical briefings.
- Prior experience supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and familiarity with the Missile Defense System.
- Experience with electro-optical or infrared (EO/IR) signature analysis.
- Knowledge of MDA flight test targets and threat modeling.
- Active or eligible for Top Secret clearance.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Optical Signatures Code.
