Compensation: $50–$60/hour (W2 or 1099 depending on arrangement)
Duration: Temporary (4–6 weeks) with potential to become permanent
Certifications Required: CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 compliant)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Network and Computer Systems Administrator to support mission-critical IT operations at Eglin Air Force Base. This is a short-term, full-time position expected to last 4 to 6 weeks, with the potential to convert to a long-term/permanent role based on performance and project requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in managing network infrastructure and systems administration, ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable operation of DoD IT environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, configure, and maintain classified and unclassified DoD network systems.
Administer and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers, user accounts, and networked resources.
Ensure network security posture and system compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
Install updates, patches, and security configurations in alignment with STIGs and IAVAs.
Monitor system performance and logs to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Support user access, permissions, and directory services (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
Maintain detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
Collaborate with cyber and comms teams to ensure mission readiness of systems.
Required Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance
Active CompTIA Security+ certification (or higher, per DoD 8570 IAT Level II)
5+ years of hands-on experience in network/system administration roles
Strong knowledge of DoD IT environments, security protocols, and compliance standards
Experience with Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Active Directory, and network infrastructure
Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF, and vulnerability management tools
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience supporting USAF or DoD programs at Eglin AFB or similar environments
Cisco, Microsoft, or VMware certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, VCP)
Experience with ticketing systems, asset tracking, and documentation tools
