The Senior Solutions Architect will serve as the designated technical lead responsible for ensuring continuity and evolution of legacy systems while contributing to the strategic technical vision of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). This role provides institutional knowledge throughout the contract lifecycle and leads development teams in operations and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have broad technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements into scalable architectural solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical lead, maintaining continuity of legacy systems and driving strategic modernization efforts.
Provide ongoing institutional knowledge and leadership throughout the duration of the contract.
Lead contractor teams in application O&M tasks, ensuring stability, performance, and availability of key systems.
Develop and present system architecture diagrams suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Apply application design, development, and analysis techniques to assess, enhance, or redesign legacy and modernized systems.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement solutions aligned with agency goals, technical feasibility, and industry best practices.
Propose and assess the appropriateness and quality of technical solutions for moderate to complex problems.
Participate in and lead design and architectural discussions; influence technical direction and solution strategies.
Mentor, guide, and lead junior and mid-level developers within the team.
Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels—including developers, business users, management, and vendors—to ensure successful solution delivery.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Information Technology.
Proven experience in application design, development, analysis, and systems integration.
Demonstrated ability to create and present technical diagrams and solution documentation.
Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
Technical and Professional Skills:
Broad understanding of software architecture, systems integration, and technology lifecycle management.
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and make decisions under pressure.
Skilled in one or more technical domains (e.g., application architecture, data systems, cloud infrastructure, etc.).
Experience working in enterprise environments and with federal or public sector agencies is preferred.
