ASRC Federal Highland Technology is actively seeking a QA Software Automation Test Engineer with API emphasis to join our team and support development efforts for a government client. Position is remote and available anywhere in the United States.

Natural resource conservation is an effort of Federal and State agencies, universities, and professional societies to deliver science-based information to landowners. Join us to build the technology to help people understand, preserve and increase the productivity of our natural resources.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate must be knowledgeable and experienced as a Quality Assurance Automation Test Engineer. Core responsibilities include:
  • Creating, maintaining, and evaluating software automation test scripts.
  • Following established test strategies to ensure features meet acceptance criteria.
  • Creating and executing automated test cases to ensure functional coverage for assigned features.
  • Gathering and validating application functional, performance, and load requirements.
  • Identifying and logging defects with clear reproduction steps and validating fixes.
  • Working closely with developers and QA peers to clarify requirements and improve test coverage.
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning and retrospectives, to provide insights from a testing perspective.
  • Managing test data, including the creation of data via API calls for testing.
  • Creating test reports and maintaining all test documentation.

Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Successfully demonstrated experience with at least one object-oriented programming languages, with Java preferred and some Groovy experience.
  • Hands-on experience with developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts.
  • Experience with automated testing IDEs such as IntelliJ.
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Katalon, Postman, SoapUI, or ReadyAPI.
  • Experience with commercial defect management systems such as JIRA.
  • Experience working within an Agile Development Environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of program interfaces, services, databases, messaging, and file systems.
  • The successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with a CI/CD tool such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or CircleCI.
  • Scripting proficiency in Groovy, Cygwin, Bash, Perl, or Python.
  • Engages in self-learning and stays updated with industry trends.
  • Experience using production RESTful interfaces.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience with source control management software, such as Git, Tortoise SVN/Subversion, or BitBucket.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome
  • Experience with mobile application testing and associated automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, XCUITest, Espresso).

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years' general experience of which 2 years are hands-on experience in a similar role.
  • Candidates without a degree will be considered but must have at least 9 years of general experience, of which 4 years are hands-on experience in a similar role.

Candidates will be subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.

Candidates must be a US Citizen or H1B Visa or a Green Card holder that can show 3 years consistent US residency.
