A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
• Lead software engineering teams in analyzing user requirements to derive high-performance, mission-focused solutions.
• Design, develop, and modify advanced software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to forecast and validate outcomes.
• Debug and enhance existing software to correct defects, optimize performance, and integrate with evolving hardware or system requirements.
• Serve as the technical lead across multiple development teams, overseeing design, implementation, and delivery of complex software projects.
• Design and implement complex algorithms with strict timing, interface, and system resource constraints.
• Select and apply appropriate software development processes in collaboration with customers and system engineers.
• Conduct quality control of all software products, ensuring adherence to documentation and process standards.
• Review and produce comprehensive system and software documentation to support maintainability, scalability, and compliance.
• Coordinate system installation and monitor operational specifications to ensure successful deployment and functionality.
• Make strategic recommendations on emerging technologies, DevSecOps practices, and architecture enhancements.
• Manage delegation of programming and testing tasks, while mentoring junior engineers and managing overall team performance.
Is This You?
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• Experience: 20+ years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity; OR 24+ years without a degree
• Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph
• Traits: Visionary leader, mission-first mentality, highly technical, and deeply experienced in software delivery for national security systems
Core Skills
Required:
• Deep expertise in software architecture, team leadership, and systems engineering integration
• Strong background in C, C++, C#, Java, Python, and systems built for Windows and UNIX environments
• Proven track record in algorithm design, performance tuning, and secure software delivery
• Skilled in complex database design, data flow modeling, and simulation-based forecasting
• Ability to select and drive software development lifecycles across teams and mission priorities
Preferred:
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerized environments (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with tools like Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, Packer, and related deployment automation technologies
• Demonstrated ability to align technical solutions with user and operational needs
• Proven experience conducting peer reviews, overseeing delivery timelines, and managing customer relationships
