We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) team in McKinney-TX, which is part of our Land & Air Defense Systems group.

What You Will Do

This position is for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer who has experience in the development and implementation of software for real-time applications.

Deliverables include but not limited to:
  • Supports all aspects of a software development life cycle, supporting programs from concept and requirements through design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.
  • Develops robust and scalable software in C++ running Linux operating systems on a variety of computing platforms using Agile development methods.
  • Develops or maintains DevSecOps tooling such as build pipelines, test automation, deployment processes, and configuration management.
  • Supports or leads software integration and verification activities.
  • Provides technical leadership through mentorship, subject matter expertise, team leadership, and participation in proposal, design, and process improvement.
  • Uses and provides creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems.
  • Works closely with Systems Engineers to design solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind.
  • Maintains Secret clearance as needed by programs. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
  • Works onsite at McKinney, TX


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Experience using object-oriented programming and C++ design paradigms in a Linux OS or other Real Time Operating Systems environment.
  • Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tooling and culture.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Real-time, multi-threaded software development experience.
  • Embedded software development knowledge.
  • Lead integration efforts with other teams to ensure software components interact correctly within the overall system architecture.
  • Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators).
  • Familiarity with a breadth of software tools, such as git, CMake, Eclipse, Atlassian Suite, Jenkins, DOORS, Google Test, Qt, etc.
  • Experience working with Linux internals, services, and administration.
  • Experience with scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.) and experience automating system tasks.
  • Radar domain knowledge.
  • Experience working with multi-discipline team(s).
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
