Systems Engineering I/II
Position Overview:
This role supports the Mapping, Charting, and Geodesy (MC&G) Program Executive Office (PEO)
by facilitating the transition of R&D capabilities into operations and providing systems
engineering, acquisition planning, and technology assessment expertise. The position spans the
full program lifecycle—from concept development through O&M—and ensures mission-aligned,
cost-effective, and technically sound solutions across the MC&G Mission Domain.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Support the transition of capabilities from Research, Development, Test & Evaluation
(RDT&E) to Operations and Maintenance (O&M)
•
Contribute to concept development, technology maturation studies, and feasibility
assessments for MC&G programs
•
Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) to evaluate technology approaches against
mission requirements
•
Develop mission concept of operations (CONOPS), system specifications, and program
management documentation
•
Support coordination across NGA Source, external mission partners, and interagency
stakeholders
•
Contribute to budget development and cost analysis for MC&G portfolio programs
•
Assist with requirements development and decomposition, enterprise architecture
alignment, and configuration management
•
Develop and maintain engineering roadmaps in support of acquisition and investment
planning
•
Provide risk management support, including identification, tracking, and mitigation of
technical and programmatic risks
•
Leverage digital engineering tools to support architecture development, roadmapping,
and agile development lifecycle artifacts
•
Support creation and maintenance of mission-based effectivity models and solution
architectures
•
Deliver technical briefings, progress updates, and Weekly Activity Report (WAR) inputs to
MC&G PEO leadership and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
•
Active TS/SCI security clearance or SCI eligibility
•
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting the National System for Geospatial
Intelligence (NSG), with familiarity in interagency coordination and enterprise processes
•
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,
MIS, Geography, GIS, Geodetic Sciences, or a related STEM field; Preferred: Master’s
degree in a STEM-related field
•
2+ years of experience supporting engineering planning throughout the system lifecycle,
including integrated roadmap development and engineering artifact generation;
applying systems engineering processes such as requirements decomposition, interface
definition, and implementation planning for complex systems
•
Experience with DoD or IC acquisition planning, documentation, and program execution
•
Experience in one or more technical areas: data change detection, object/entity
identification, entity extraction, computer vision, or machine learning
