Summary

The Service Desk Support Specialist provides advanced technical support and serves as a key escalation point for resolving complex IT issues. This role involves maintaining operational continuity through O&M support, managing system certificate renewals, and executing hardware refreshes and deployments. The specialist works closely with end users, IT teams, and client stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery in a secure environment.

Responsibilities

Provide Operations & Maintenance (O&M) support for enterprise IT systems.
Deliver second-tier technical support, resolving escalated issues from Tier I staff.
Coordinate and execute system certificate renewals to maintain secure communications.
Perform PC/server rebuilds, technical refreshes, and phone system deployments.
Support and troubleshoot Avaya SME Communication Manager, Aura Messaging, System Manager, and Session Manager.
Administer and support Microsoft Teams, Power BI, DHCP, and Microsoft TAC tools.
Respond to and resolve incidents via phone, email, and ticketing systems.
Simulate or recreate user problems to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution.
Coordinate with network services, software, and systems engineering teams.
Maintain knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures.
Ensure all help desk support phases are properly logged, tracked, and resolved.
Mentor junior service desk staff and provide technical leadership.

Qualifications

Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
Minimum 5 years of IT support experience, with 2+ years in a senior or lead role.
Strong knowledge of Avaya systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and remote support tools.
Experience with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).
Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and lead high-impact assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent certifications.
Experience supporting DoD or federal government environments.
Familiarity with ITIL best practices.
