GRADE: Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time
LOCATION: Range Services / Eglin AFB, FL - On Site

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. This worker may locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
GENERAL DUTIES:
OTHER DUTIES: May be required to perform housekeeping duties to assigned work areas. May be required to have a Class A CDL. May be required to handle hazardous material and/or collect hazardous waste. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have completed vocational or military training in welding fundamentals and skills and have at least seven years of welding experience. May be required to be certified in various types of welding techniques and materials.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed both inside and outside in hot and cold weather.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Eye protection must be worn. Must be capable of lifting or shifting heavy items to complete work.

- Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, range targets, mobile homes, and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Have good dexterity and attention to detail, as well as technical knowledge about the materials being joined and best practices in the field.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead.
- The ability to test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
- Must have an understanding of metals and their properties so the best combinations can be used to enhance the life of the final product.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
