Description

The Video/Teleconferencing Technician is responsible for managing, controlling, and maintaining all Video/Teleconference equipment as well as mobile phones and devices. They support the Enterprise Information Services for Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Operations Office (DOE-SR) federal government staff and site contractors at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken SC. The position serves as the direct interface for IT queries from users accessing various systems through various types, makes and models of computers and mobile devices.

Requirements

• Video Teleconferencing services shall include, but not be limited to, the operation, scheduling, establishing, troubleshooting and monitoring of all equipment and systems associated with the DOE-SRS Video Teleconference Network.

• Managing and controlling all items associated with the Video Teleconference Network to include accounting for, properly handling, controlling, and storing those items.

• Video Teleconference Technician (VTT) is designated as the single point-of-contact for scheduling and coordinating Video teleconferencing (VTC) activities involving DOE-SRS, the DOE-SRS Video Teleconference Network employees and for all DOE-SRS and Support Service Contractor employees requiring telecommunications service(s).

• The VTT schedules the video teleconferences and ensures that all VTC equipment is working properly and/or is reported immediately to the DOE Task Manager if not working and accounts for the VTC equipment. Will document and log all VTC appointments using the automated bridging conferencing network equipment.

• Accountable property will be logged and maintained current at all times. VTT will maintain the database current with information regarding the Life Cycle Management of property and services provided to customer.

• The VTT will maintain the required records, both electronic and paper, to show the audit trail and life cycle management information on equipment and services provided to all customers.

• The VTT ensures that proper facilities are available for the necessary placement of wiring for both voice and data circuits to meet the needs of the telephone service request (TSR) for new service.

• The VTT must ensure that a Telecommunications Work Request form, SR 212 is completed for telephone services after having validated the requirement on the approved SR 212. The information on the TSR is then provided to telecommunication personnel and tracked by the VTT to remain updated on the current status of requests.

• Telephone Coordination services include, but are not limited to, relocating telephone, FAX, modem lines, cellular phones, and conducting an inventory of DOE-SRS telecommunication equipment.

• Prepare Telephone Service Requests (TSRs) for processing and maintaining an appropriate filing system that incorporates the current and background requests.

• Record and track requests on a specified automated system and provide management reports to the Project Manager as requested for services performed.

• Receive and process requests for DOE site pagers, radios and nationwide pagers.

• Assist in the provisioning of smartphones devices. (i.e. blackberries, iPhones, iPads, etc.)

• Maintain required VTC records, both electronic and paper, to show the audit trail and life cycle management information on equipment and services provided to all customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to configure, administer, operate, manage and troubleshoot Video Teleconferencing services and mobile devices.

• Must possess an excellent command of the English language and good communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.

• Ability to accurately prepare written reports and correspondence that are coherent, grammatically correct, effective, and professional.

• Ability to demonstrate ethics, responsibility, confidentiality, professionalism, punctuality, consistent dependability, and organizational skills

• Must be able to observe operations or review technical data and ascertain compliance with procedures and technical specifications.

• Must possess problem solving skills and the capability to prioritize daily work schedule in keeping with productivity standards.

• Possess strong collaboration skills and be able to meet deadlines.

• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and manage time efficiently.

• Ability to work professionally with individuals and diverse groups.

• Ability to perform each duty assigned thoroughly and independently

• Ability to present material orally and in writing sufficient to present issues and/or to effectively communicate and provide advice and assistance to AMSS staff and management level personnel.

Clearance:

Must possess (or be able to obtain) a "L" level security clearance

Education:

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

1 year of IT support or 1 year of courses towards an associate degree in computer science or a related professional certification such as a CompTIA A+

Certification:

CompTIA A+ certification in lieu of education or experience
