TITLE: Database Engineer with ACTIVE TS/SCI clearance
RATE RANGE: $81/hr - $101/hr for Sr. level (8+ years) position and $71/hr- $89/hr W2 (5 years) **D.O.E. and benefits chosen
LOCATIONS: Onsite in Aurora, CO 80011, Richardson, TX 75080, Sterling, VA 20163, State College, PA 16801 (no relocation package)
DURATION: Contract or Contract to Hire

POSITION DESCRIPTION
GeoLogics is hiring a Principal Database Engineer to support teams in Richardson TX, Dulles VA, State College PA, or Aurora CO. You will have the opportunity to directly impact the world around you and contribute to classified programs and technologies you are passionate about. In this position you would be familiar with creating, updating, and managing databases and the code that interacts with them.
RESPOSIBILITES
* Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions.
* Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
* Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions.
* Use proven problem solving and analytical skills.
* The ability to complete polygraphs.
* Obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start.
REQUIREMENTS
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of Database Engineering experience.
Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle and Postgres, or related systems.
Experience working with Systems and Software Engineers to design, implement, and modify backend databases to interact with applications.
Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases.
Experience using Linux command line to perform database administration activities.
Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date or an active TS that can be crossed over to a TS/SCI prior to start date.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Existing Security+ Certification
Experience with AWS database services.
Experience with NoSQL database products such as MongoDB and DynamoDB.
Data architecture experience for data design decisions (such as best DB for a use case).
Experience troubleshooting database issues such as DR, replication & backups and other related issues.
Experience troubleshooting performance issues.
Experience with database security controls and audit & compliance requirements.
Experience with automating routine tasks.
Experience with Spatial databases.
Coding experience (SQL, Python, Java) is helpful.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor Degree Required? Preferred
