Description
USI is seeking a highly experienced and mission-driven Senior Aviation Military Analyst - Fixed Wing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide expert support to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) at Fort Novosel, AL. This position directly supports the Aviation Capability Development and Integration Directorate (A-CDID) and plays a critical role in analyzing and advancing fixed-wing capabilities across Army Aviation.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive Army fixed wing operational and instructional experience, dual-branch qualifications in Military Intelligence and Aviation, and a proven track record in capability development, JCIDS documentation, and operational analysis.

USI is seeking a highly experienced and mission-driven Senior Aviation Military Analyst - Fixed Wing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide expert support to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence (USAACE) at Fort Novosel, AL. This position directly supports the Aviation Capability Development and Integration Directorate (A-CDID) and plays a critical role in analyzing and advancing fixed-wing capabilities across Army Aviation.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive Army fixed wing operational and instructional experience, dual-branch qualifications in Military Intelligence and Aviation, and a proven track record in capability development, JCIDS documentation, and operational analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Army's fixed wing aviation SME supporting A-CDID efforts to develop, assess, and modernize fixed wing aircraft and associated capabilities.
- Provide operational and technical expertise on the tactical employment of Army fixed-wing platforms in global mission sets.
- Lead or support Joint Working Groups, capabilities-based assessments, and cross-functional team efforts.
- Guide and contribute to the development of requirements documents, including ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, and JCIDS documentation.
- Provide thorough sub-analysis and integration assessments of aviation systems into broader operational constructs.
- Author or contributor to: White papers and concept papers, Operational views and DOTmLPF-P analyses, and PowerPoint briefings and information summaries for senior Army decision-makers
- Lead aviation studies evaluating fixed-wing platforms and technologies, and provide recommendations on capability gaps and modernization priorities.
- Coordinate with Army aviation formations (59-170+ personnel) and advise on operational planning, training, and execution.
- Provide leadership and guidance in high-level staff discussions and product development with minimal oversight.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of Army Aviation flight and combat operations experience.
- Must be Senior or Master-rated Army Aviator with direct experience in Army fixed wing aircraft currently fielded.
- Dual-qualified in Military Intelligence and Aviation Branches.
- Former Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP) or Instructor Pilot (IP) in Army fixed wing formations.
- Experience leading or managing Army Aviation units ranging from 59 to 170+ personnel; experience managing organizations of 400+ personnel preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in combat development or capability development roles.
- Experience as a Maintenance Test Pilot or Examiner in Army fixed-wing aircraft.
- Experience planning, facilitating, and executing Joint Working Groups and aviation study teams.
- Direct leadership of a team that authored a JROC-approved JCIDS document required.
- Participation in the Army Aviation Operations Capabilities-Based Assessment (CBA) is strongly preferred.
- Operational experience deploying and employing fixed-wing platforms in worldwide mission environments.
- Education:
- Completion of military or civilian staff development courses such as CGSC/ILE or Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Skills:
- Ability to operate independently under general senior-level guidance to develop high-quality written products.
- Capable of reviewing, editing, and finalizing written products at the graduate level with minimal required revisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Security Clearance:
- Active TS/SCI clearance required.
