We are seeking a motivated, technically capable, self-starter to serve as an ADVANA Developer supporting the Southern Command Operations, Planning, and Engagement Support (SCOPES) program. This position will reside in the Office of the Chief Data Officer as part of a project spanning various development, data science, and knowledge management functions. This position requires a strong background in software development, data engineering principles, and cloud technologies. The ADVANA Developer will contribute to building and enhancing capabilities that enable data-driven decision-making for SOUTHCOM.
Responsibilities:
• Design and Development: Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including
requirements gathering, system design, development, testing, and deployment of
applications and data pipelines within the ADVANA environment.
• Data Engineering: Develop and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to ingest,
transform, cleanse, and integrate data from various DoD source systems into the ADVANA
data lake.
• Cloud Technologies: Utilize and contribute to the development within ADVANA's cloud
based architecture, leveraging cloud-native services for data storage, processing, and
analytics.
• Programming and Scripting: Write efficient and maintainable code in languages such as
Python, Java, SQL, and others relevant to the ADVANA technology stack.
• API Development and Integration: Design, develop, and consume APIs to facilitate data
sharing and integration between ADVANA and other DoD systems.
• Data Modeling and Schema Design: Collaborate with data architects and analysts to design
and implement effective data models and schemas that support analytical requirements.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests to
ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of developed solutions.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and deployment procedures.
• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to
understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Required Technical Skills & Experience: Proficiency and experience leveraging ADVANA to
implement prototype AI/ML solutions for process improvement. This position is written for a
candidate who has recent and relevant working development within the ADVANA program.
Additionally, this position requires strong communication skills, with the ability to train and
mentor others in best practices that leverage ADVANA.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity working as part of a staff of a military headquarters.
• Familiarity with the structure, mission, and operational requirements of a Headquarters
similar to USSOUTHCOM.

Journeyman Labor Category: $120,000/year

Qualifications:
For the Junior Labor Category, candidates must have the following level of education and relevant
experience:
• No Degree: Minimum of 6 years of experience.
• Associate's Degree: Minimum of 4 years of experience.
• Bachelor's Degree: No experience required.
• Master's Degree or PhD: No experience required.
For the Journeyman Labor Category, candidates must have the following level of education and
relevant experience:
• No Degree: Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience.
• Associate's Degree: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Master's Degree or PhD: No experience required.
For the Senior Labor Category, candidates must have the following level of education and relevant
experience:
