ASRC Federal is seeking a Records Analyst to support a DOE customer in Germantown, MD. This position requires one to be onsite and to successfully complete a government issued background investigation.
Summary:
The Records Analyst plays a crucial role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of ASRC Federal's comprehensive records and information management program, specifically in support of Department of Energy (DOE) missions. This position requires a solid understanding of federal records management principles, practices, and technologies, applicable across various federal agencies, with a particular emphasis on Department of Energy (DOE)-specific policies and regulations. The Analyst will be responsible for managing both physical and electronic records throughout their lifecycle, ensuring strict compliance with federal National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and DOE legal and regulatory requirements, and assisting with compliance and risk management activities to optimize information governance processes to support critical DOE programs.

The Analyst will be responsible for managing both physical and electronic records throughout their lifecycle, ensuring strict compliance with federal National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and DOE legal and regulatory requirements, and assisting with compliance and risk management activities to optimize information governance processes to support critical DOE programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing classification, cataloging, indexing, and filing of both physical and electronic records in accordance with federal NARA and specific agency retention schedules, with a primary focus on DOE policies (e.g., NARA, DOE Order 243.1, DOE Records Disposition Schedules).
- Assist with the timely disposition (destruction or archival) of records, ensuring proper documentation and audit trails as required by NARA and DOE directives.
- Assist in ensuring strict adherence to all applicable internal records management policies, as well as broad federal legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., Federal Records Act, NARA regulations), with deep expertise in DOE orders, directives, and relevant guidance.
- Act as a key user for the organization's Electronic Records Management System (ERMS) and other relevant information management platforms used within the federal and DOE ecosystems.
- Participate in the evaluation, implementation of recordkeeping practices and systems, and optimization of records management technologies and tools relevant to federal government and DOE standards.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and deliver training and awareness programs to DOE personnel, providing them with essential resources for effective recordkeeping, emphasizing federal and DOE compliance.
- Maintain accurate records inventories, disposition logs, and other essential documentation required for internal and external (e.g., NARA, DOE) reporting.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Archival Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; OR directly relevant experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in records management, information governance, or a closely related field, preferably within a federal government agency.
- Demonstrated experience with records retention scheduling and disposition processes, specifically understanding National Archives and Records Administration General Records Schedules (GRS).
- Skills:
- Understanding of federal records and information management principles, best practices, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of federal legal and regulatory requirements impacting records management, including the Federal Records Act, NARA regulations, and critically, DOE Orders, Directives (e.g., DOE Order 243.1C), and other relevant guidance related to records and information.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex records management concepts to diverse audiences, including technical teams, legal personnel, and non-technical staff at all levels.
- Strong comprehension skills to accurately interpret federal regulations, DOE orders, and user requirements, translating them into actionable records management solutions.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to an agile environment and evolving project requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive government information with utmost discretion and confidentiality.
